RESIDUAL 3

Nestled in the foothills of Chikmagalur, India lies the ancestral coffee estate of my husband’s family. Nurtured over generations, this forest-like sanctuary embodies majesty, stability and perpetuity. Exploding with diverse and breath-taking flora these plantations are vignettes of our history. As an ode to this legacy, I started to forage plants from the estate and press them on paper to create tactile impressions. Each work developed from a reflexive act of collecting and staining; from observation and curiosity; and in materiality and residue. Illustrated with pen and ink, this series is a glimpse into the topographical, lived and imagined memories of this landscape.
